WRITING PRACTICE

Practise writing formal emails.

TASK 1  FORMAL EMAIL

You are going to write a FORMAL EMAIL (125-150 words) to the head teacher at your daughter’s school. You are not happy about some things at the school.

A.    YOUR PLAN

MAKE NOTES

School problems:

1.       Too many tests
2.       The school is dirty
3.       The food
4.       Not enough homework
5.       Other problems
              Decide what action to propose. A meeting? Changing school?

B.     USEFUL LANGUAGE:

C.     SEQUENCING POINTS

To start: In the first pace/First of all/ To begin with
To introduce additional points: Furthermore/Moreover/In addition/Besides
To  finish: Finally/Last but not least



TASK 2  FORMAL EMAIL

Write a formal email (125-150 words). You are the head teacher of a school and you are concerned about one of your students. Write to his or her parents.


TASK 3 FORMAL EMAIL

You teach Spanish in a secondary school in the UK. One student is having particular problems with the subject. Write an email to the parents, explaining the situation and offering some advice.
