CONVERSATION
A: We won´t use cash/food/go to a physical school in the future. It will all be digital/ online……
B: Do you think so?
A: Yes, it´ll be much easier.
B: Maybe you´re right.

RESPONDING TO IDEAS

Do you think so?                                              Maybe you´re right

You must be joking!
You can´t be serious!
Seriously?                                                     I hope so/ I hope not

Hmm, I´m not so sure

 That would be good/ terrible

MAKE PREDICTIONS FOR THE FUTURE.
1.     Most scientists say there won´t be enough fuel by 2050.
2.     The result will be energy shortages and new sources of energy.
3.     Do you think the rise in unemployment will lead to more crime?
4.     More people will work from home so there won´t be so much traffic.
5.     It seems that environmental pollution will increase.
6.     Scientists think temperatures will rise and cause flooding and extreme weather.
7.     Scientists believe the earth´s temperature will continue
to rise.
8.     We won´t use gas or electricity to heat our water in the future, we´ll use solar power.
9.     Did you see the news report about the drought /draʊt/ in Angola? Poverty is going to get a lot worse.
10.           Lower areas and coasts will suffer from flooding. /ˈflʌdɪŋ/
11.           A: What´s happening in that field over there?
B: They´re going to build a wind farm.

1.     There´s so much litter in London
2.     Please, don´t litter!
3.     Turn off the tap. You´re wasting water!
4.     We must save electricity. Turn off the lights!
5.     You don´t have to throw that on the ground. There´s a bin over there.
6.     You mustn´t litter like that. There are loads of bins all over the place!
7.     You mustn’t do that. Now, go back and pick up that bottle!
8.     Please, remember that milk cartons have to go in the other bin.
9.     We have a recycling bin for a reason. You must recycle cartons.
10.How many times do I have to tell you? Cartons don´t go in that bin!
   11.Just a sec. I´m sorting the rubbish.

CONVERSATION

A.   What are you doing, Gary?
B.   I´m throwing away this yoghurt pot. Why?
A.   You mustn´t throw those away. You must recycle. Think of the environment!
B.   It´s just one pot. What difference does it make?
A.   If we all said that, there would be no rainforests left. You must watch this documentary, SPIRITS OF THE RAINFOREST, it´s amazing.
B.   Look, it could be worse. I could be throwing it in the street.
A.   You don´t have to be so rude. You know I´m right.
B.   Fine. Which bin do I have to put it in? The yellow, green, blue or brown one?
A.   Isn´t it obvious? The yellow one that says plastic on it.

WOULD YOU MAKE ANY IMPROVEMENTS IN YOUR TOWN?

RECYCLING BINS
RUBBISH
TRAFFIC
CYCLE LANES
PARKS

Principio del formulario
Buying or selling your home
 Energy Performance Certificates
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are needed whenever a property is:
  • built
  • sold
  • rented
You must order an EPC for potential buyers and tenants before you market your property to sell or rent.
An EPC contains:
  • information about a property’s energy use and typical energy costs
  • recommendations about how to reduce energy use and save money
An EPC gives a property an energy efficiency rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and is valid for 10 years.
Check how you could make your home more energy efficient using the EPC adviser.
How to get an EPC
You’ll need to find an accredited assessor if you’re selling or renting your home in:
They’ll assess your property and produce the certificate.
You can be fined if you don’t get an EPC when you need one.
The person selling the house, the landlord or the estate agent must show you the EPC if you’re buying or renting.

READING PRACTICE

For most of us, questions of environmental or social change are things that we only see on the news, not part of our everyday lives. In the homes of the future, however, solutions to issues like these will be built-in. We often won´t even notice it, but science is going to change how we live our lives.

When we talk about the future, we generally think about how temperatures will increase, and the risk of flooding will go up. The first thing you´ll notice in the homes of the future is that they won´t be houses, but flats. There are good reasons for this. Blocks of flats are much easier to heat up in winter, and cool down in summer, so they will be better equipped for a world with rising temperatures, and where fuel prices have also risen. As population increases in cities continue to speed up, we´ll be more crowded, so flats make more sense. And because they take up less space, it´ll be possible to build flats in safe areas where there won´t be flooding.

And of course, the homes of tomorrow will be different inside, too. They will offer a safer and more environmentally friendly lifestyle. These will include better recycling of waste, clean energy from solar and wind power, and water-free laundry and showering facilities.

In the future, we´ll spend more time at home. We probably won´t leave to work, or to study, because we´ll be able to do all of that via the internet. So the home of the future really will be our world. Is it a dream or a nightmare? You decide!
Recycling is easy when you know what you can recycle and where, and how it helps.
Everything we throw in the rubbish bin is potentially a lost resource – and then we have to make new things out of virgin material to replace the stuff we’ve thrown away. But if every one of us recycles one more thing, we’ll make an enormous difference.
So, if every Londoner recycled just one more aluminium can, with the energy saved we could power a TV set every day for nearly 63 years. Recycling saves energy – so recycle just one more thing today.
Recycling also reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials from the earth, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. At our current rate, UK recycling is estimated to save more than 18 million tonnes of CO2 a year – the equivalent to taking 5 million cars off the road.
Find out more about what happens when you recycle individual items in the sections below.

SPEAKING PRACTICE

Consider global warming and climate change.
Do you think the weather where you live has changed since you were a child?
Has it caused more floods or droughts?
What other things can people do to save energy?
