ON HOLIDAY/IN THE HOLIDAYS

We had a great holiday in Sicily.

Kate's not here, she's on holiday at the moment.

We're going on holiday to Greece next month.

What did you do in the summer holidays?

You've been working a lot lately, I think you need to take a holiday.

As children, we often spent the holidays with our grandparents.

Hotel prices are always higher during the school holidays.

Our neighbours are away on holiday at the moment

Most people go on holiday to have a break from their normal lives.

DON'T SAY:

x  We had a great holidays.
x  She's on holidays.

Sam got back an hour ago.

We finally arrived AT the station 20 minutes late.
Give me a call when you arrive AT the airport.
Finally, the ambulance arrived AT the hospital.

  • Do people use public transport?

  • Are there problems with traffic?
- Bikes are the main form of transport on the island.
- The tram is still a major means of transport in several European cities.
- The council is encouraging people to use public transport instead of driving into the city.
